The First Month after Your Plastic Surgery

* No heavy lifting: In general, don’t lift anything over 10 or 15 pounds for the first two weeks or so. Your doctor can give you specifics, but basically avoid any serious lifting. Let somebody else do it!
* Light stretching and walking short distances are good exercises to do during the first month. Be sure to check with your plastic surgeon before starting.
After the First Month
The best way to start exercising after your abdominoplasty is to do some walking. Walking is great for overall muscle toning, and we never do enough of it. The treadmill is also a good way to get you back into exercising.
It is especially important to keep yourself hydrated after plastic surgery. Make sure you drink plenty of water. Even though you’re past the first month, take it easy, and listen to your body. Don’t wear yourself out.
There will be some swelling and soreness after a tummy tuck, but it should not be excessive. If you are unsure, talk to your plastic surgeon.
You can exercise a little more and a little more until you are back into your routine. After two months, you should be able to fully resume all activities. Even sit-ups are okay.
It is always better not to work out at all, than to do too much. Even though you need to move, you don’t want to endanger your health. Make sure you are fully recovered first.
Time To Make A Plan
The final step is to make an exercise and diet plan. After your tummy tuck, you have a new, slim body, so take care of it. Lots of folks who’ve gotten an abdominoplasty find the fat creeping back because they don’t stay committed to working out.
If you are not a big exerciser, now is the time to start. Start with a gym membership. Exercise right and banish the flab forever!
